Songs » The Choice We Made

We'd do it again: one man's reflection on one couple's decision to have an abortion.
I always hoped that I would someday hear from you again.
Though destiny broke us apart before we reached the end,
It's nice to know you're doing well, I guess I am too.
Do you think about those days at all? I sure think of you.
The choice we had to make, we never knew.
Our first night together, we threw caution to the wind,
A love child was in the air, before our love was born.
After all these years, our one unspoken truth:
Someone might have been, we both remember who.
The choice we had to make so soon.
Our love was young, just me and you
So little time to think it through
Our whole lives lay out ahead of us
There was only one thing to do.
The deed was done. We carried on, forgetting to remember
What needed to be spoken was never really mentioned.
And though our love was not enough, and we broke up instead,
The choice we made was right—
And if we had to do it all again,
We'd choose the same, and we'd do it again.
